Elder VeRhonda Hembree and Pastor Martha Anne Fairchild inventory the sheets, blankets, towels, pillows, and personal care items the congregation has collected for the Scott County Emergency Shelter, which is available to provide housing for individuals and families with housing emergencies. Though it now appears no hurricane evacuees will need to use it, these donated items will finish equipping the shelter so it is ready for use any time.
The shelter is intended for a variety of potential situations any family whose house burns, natural disasters like tornadoes or floods, or any other situation resulting in temporary homelessness.
Ms. Wilson is on the advisory board of the shelter.
